As word has spread of the success of the Hog Cutters team and Jager Pro Hog Control Systems, we continue to find ourselves welcoming new landowners to the family. Whether through equipment sales and guidance, trapping, feral hog trapping program design consultation, or formal training, we have worked with some incredibly interesting people.
This first drop is the perfect example of the whole sounder methodology, and conditioning/capture protocol.
Initially, the trap site showed activity consistently with 6 hogs. However, we felt the group was not showing its true numbers. We urged our client to have patience, and continued to wait, while quietly baiting the site. We waited, and watched, and waited. Our time and patience paid off. The shadows beyond the panels turned into hogs that materialized into the full sounder. Suddenly we had 16 hogs entering to feed on a regular basis. The night Josey made the call we should take the group when they showed the proper behavior, we not only were able to trap the 16 hog sounder, but also a very large boar who was attempting to “romance” one of the sows.
Not bad for the first drop, and solid proof that the program and the tools work.
