Long time Hog Cutters family member Steve reached out a few days ago for hog trapping advice. He has had great success with his Jager Pro trap. When he relocated his rigid trap system to a new active location, he began seeing 2 wild hog groups enter at different times.
The first group was a sounder of 12. The second was a duo of very ornery boars. Steve was curious which group to trap first. Trapping one without educating the second. After comparing the various factors involved such as entry times, behavior, and influences outside the trap, You can see which group ultimately won out.
Boars can be notoriously difficult to trap. They can also create problems by acting territorial with the trap itself. We call these the “Gatekeepers” as they will guard the trap gate and run off other hogs wishing to feed. We suspect that very soon we will be seeing pictures of the other sounder coming in from Steve.
As professional hog trappers and representatives of Jager Pro, we feel it is our duty to assist others with their hog control questions. Small details like adding reflective para-cord to the outside of the gate (to confirm its position through dust, hogs, fog and foliage that may obscure the view), can make a big difference in the end results. It doesn’t hurt that we can offer our family members some of the best and most functional equipment around. Just like the small dump trailer Mr Steve is using to haul the boars away.
We did notice when the first boar saw the Jager Pro logo on the control box he knew his time was up. He just lay at the gate waiting for the devil to come take him back.
Thank you for reaching out Steve. We are always happy to be of help.
